Because of their inherent digital nature, radiology studies are easily transported for one location to another via a multitude of standard available connectivity options. Given this transportability, APEX has established a sophisticated network to service clients of any size, level and location. By implementing technologies to bring teleradiology services to the masses, a new style of health care is available:
- The traditionally isolated rural and suburban practitioners now have access to and depend upon the broad and deep expertise of large groups such as APEX through the leveraging of new technology.
- Incremental manpower problems are solved because "overflow" now is simply ported to a dedicated teleradiologist who is awaiting the arrival of the work.
- Emergency department and trauma centers worldwide rely on the immediate response of a dedicated trained teleradiologist located anywhere in the world to make critical life saving decisions in a fraction of the time previously required.
- Diagnostic centers, clinics and group practices that previously were unable to access or afford the presence of an on-site radiologist now expand their scope of practice to include additional imaging hours and modalities (i.e., types of imaging examinations) by relying on a remotely located, sub specialized radiologist.
- Referring physicians access their patients' reports, images and information as well as consult with the radiologist and other specialist, regardless of their location.
